TEDx is a project by TED (Technology. Education. Design), a global conference that wants to spread ideas across the world. “TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group,” explains the channel of TEDx on Youtube. Just recently there has been a TEDxTalk in Mongkok in Hongkong and I may proudly announce, that Vincent Wang, my Co-Year from LPC, and a friend of his from a local school, were there – on stage!
They won the competition that TEDxMongkok had run in Hongkong to increase the awareness about TED at local schools. To join the competition, the competitors had to submit a video in which they explained in four minutes, how they would change the world. Now that they had won, it was their turn to talk in front of the real audience. I must say, they did a great job in addressing the topic of education. In the description by TEDx it says: “Two 16 year old Hong students wow the audience at TEDxMongKok with their intelligent, insightful and sometimes humorous take on why the education system is broken and what we need to do to fix it”. It is definitely a video worth watching and I highly recommend it to all of you. Enjoy and share – because TED is “Ideas Worth Spreading” ;)
